BUHARI, AIYEDATIWA, UMANA OTHERS ATTENDS NATIONAL COUNCIL ON NIGER DELTA.
FG to Transforms Region with New Development.
President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented by the Minister of Environment, Mohammed Abdulahi re-emphasised government’s efforts and commitment in addressing the challenges of underdevelopment and insecurity in the Niger Delta region by evolving different programmes to address the diverse needs of stakeholders in the region.
The President made this declaration while declaring open the 5th National Council on Niger Delta with theme, “Harnessing 21st Century Development Initiatives and Strategies for Greater Development Impacts in the Niger Delta Region” , held at ICON Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo Akwa Ibom State on Thursday.
Other guests at the very impressive summit were, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN represented by his Deputy, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State represented by the Secretary of the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Umana Okon Umana, the Minister of State, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Mrs Sharon Ikeazor and other public sector and traditional leaders from the region.
In this brief remarks, Aiyedatiwa called for genuine conversations especially ones that allows the region better for the people and it’s communities.
He also called on the Ministry to work harder to deliver on its mandates as the people are waiting for a new and impactful Niger Delta region.
While commending the ministry for some of the intervention projects in it’s mandate area, Aiyedatiwa canvassed synergy with the affected State Governments for optimum results.
