REDESIGNED NEW NAIRA NOTES; A WELCOME MONETARY POLICY
The National Orientation Agency Ondo State Director, Mrs Adelayo Adefolalu has charged Nigerians to embrace the directive of the CBN to open personal Bank account to help them deposit the old Nigerian notes in their possession. She equally urged Nigerians to embrace the newly redesigned naira notes of #200,500 and 1,000 that have become legal tenders since December 15.The old notes will be in concurrent legal use with the new naira notes till January 31 2023 after which it cease to become legal tenders in the country.
Mrs Adefolalu gave this charge while speaking through a Telephone interview with Crest FM Newscaster on a News Bulletin on Crest FM 106.1 Akure recently revealed that the decision for redesigning high Naira Notes was taken for the good of the country as an urgent monetary policy to checkmate the 85 percent of the naira notes in circulation outside the banking system., shortage of Clean and fit banknotes in circulation and increase in counterfeiting of high denominations of Naira Notes.
The NOA boss outlined that the new Naira policy will help to improve economy of the country, reduce crime rates to it barest minimum such as Ransom demand by kidnappers, control inflation, modify lifestyles by cutting excessive and unnecessary spending.
Mrs Adefolalu disclosed that the Agency has embarked on massive Sensitization especially to the rural areas through one on one and Advocacy visits to farmers and market women to inform them to deposit the old Naira Notes in their possession and the withdrawal limits Policy as from next year.
