DEMOCRACY DOES NOT CALL FOR VIOLENCE—-Adesomoju
A retired seasons Principal and Public Analist now a Farmer, Mr Paul Adesomoju has said Democracy does not call for violence. He said the subject (Democracy) should give room for freedom for everybody to choose. His words “Violence is condemned in its entirety. What we call Democracy should give room for freedom for everybody to choose. It does not call for violence or death of any Nigerians” .
Adesomoju who blamed the Security personnel for allowing Thugs to cart away Ballot Box during election, said security of life of the electorates should be the priority of the government during election in order for people to have confidence in casting their votes without fear. He said why should we allow thugs to carry away Ballot Box when we have security personnel on ground. He said though the security personnel at the polling units are not allowed to carried arm but at a distance there are Security men that could be easily be called upon if there is any Security challenge and they would come to their rescue at the Polling boot but unfortunately this was not operational.
In another development, Adesomoju said our Government have a good policies but lack of implementation has always been a problem. He said the laxity in the security breeze that led to the violence during election was due to the lack of implementation of good policy of Government because Police gave us Security hinch.
Similarly, the Principal (RTD) said the lateness of the INEC adhoc staff with sensitive materials to the Polling units was not acceptable. According to him, the Electoral umpire promised Nigerians that by seven thirty to eight o clock am (7:30-8:00 am) they would have been at the Polling units, so in many cases they were not there not until 12 noon. He said laxity and logistic problem on the part of the INEC constituted to the violence during the Elections because the expectation of the people was so high and the lateness of the INEC Adhoc staff and the materials may give room for any suspicious rumor and unexpected action could happen as regards to election. These are some of the reasons that contributed to the violence experience in the election day.
Also, the cashless policy of the Government was X-rayed by Adesomoju and he believes that there is no pain without gain . He said Nigerians suffered because of this currency swap, lack of liquid, lack of cash and lack of preparation. He said since Nigeria had decided to operate cashless system of economy, the Banks supposed to have upgraded their electronic technology techniques to be able to accommodate the customers transaction . He said in most cases customers always experienced transaction failure and all these boils down to lack of readiness and ability to take the up sourged of electronic transfer. He said we should be happy that election now a day is no more monetize and that no monetiization of Election would have a positive impact in the polity. He said the elected politicians before are not rendering any positive service to the people because they believed that they could buy votes during the election but now since there is no money to spend for the electorates , anybody that win the election would know that he or she carries people’s mandates and they would begin to be rendering service to the electorates and if they refused, then the people have right to recall them or vote them out.
