SUBSIDY Removal : Give The Govt Some Little Chance.

One of the Awardee of the Sunshine Achiever’s Award of the PATH Magazine, Rotarian Tunde Akande has said the citizens of Nigeria should give the Government some little chance in order to cushion the negative impact of the Fuel Subsidy Removal. He disclosed this today at the event of the maiden edition of the Sunshine Achiever’s Award, held at the OSPDC event Centre, Ijapo Estate in Akure, the State Capital of Ondo.
Akande who eulogized the efforts of the Independent News Paper Publishers in the state for the good job they were doing, said Nigerians should exercise a little bit of patience for this government as it was just coming on board. He said he knows that at the end of the tunnel there is going to be light.
Akande condemned the under age cattle rearing in the state. He said what was causing clashes between Farmers and the Herdsmen was as a result of the under age ( 12years old) cattle rearing that has been perpetrated mostly in the mid night by these Herdsmen who usually come out in the midnight to destroy the Farmers crops. He said for now, government had bound the activities of these Herdsmen from operating in the night.
He said with the introduction of the Amotekun in the state, peace have been restored and the Farmers could now return back to their farms. He encouraged the citizens to be law abiding by carrying out their lawful duties in the society .
He also condemned the sit at home that was going on every Monday in the Eastern part of the country because of arrest of the IPOB leader -Nnamdi Kanu by the FGN .According to him, the sit at home syndrome was causing the region alot of economic loss. He advised the leadership of the Igbo people to educate their Youths on the need for them to desist from that useless order and face their businesses for the developing of their economy and the country in general.
Also, Mr Oluwafemi Ajayi, who is the Chairman of PROMA in Ondo State. An Awardee who said he was very happy for the award bestowed on him being one of the Sunshine Achiever’s awardee, who had contributed his own quota to the development of the State. He advised the PATH Magazine Publisher, Mr Alimi Collins to keep the good work going. He said the award would energize them to do more.
Another awardee that spoke was Mr Aladesanmi Oyekanmi, who is an experienced Broadcaster in the media Profession, said he was very grateful to the organiser of the event. He equally thanked the organiser for counting him worthy for the award. He said he sees the award as a glory and privilege to have received the honour.
He said the honours would help him to do more in the Broadcasting business and that it would help him to expand his tentacle across the state and beyond, as far as the profession is concerned. His words ” I want to sincerely thank them for counting me worthy to be a recipient of this glorious award. I see it as a glory and privilege and this actually will spur me to do more in the field of Broadcasting…”
In the world of chief, Ayemi, another award recipient said he feel encourage and that he new that the reason why he was there was as a result of the little he had done for his Community and Ondo State at large. He praised the Organiser of the award for what he had done to recognises the Achiever’s in the state. He said the programme shows that it was not just for the purpose of making money but only recognises those that merited it . He said the award would help him do more interm of Development in the area of their endeavor.
In another development, Babalola Kelvin thanked the organisers of the award for counting his Boss worthy, to have been among the recipients of the Sunshine Achiever’s Award. He said the award was based on the participation beyond politics and development and that the effort of his Principal in the development of the Entrepreneurs and humanitarian assistance in the state, was among the factors considered to have earned him the award.
He also expressed his personal opinion on the Fuel Subsidy Removal. He said Palliatives would had followed suit immediately the announcement was made by the President, though he appreciated the removal of the fuel subsidy. He said the implementation was wrong, he said that the proposed eight thousand naira by the FGN to the indigent citizens was a bad idea. He said it would be better if government could use the money to procure Tractors and distribute them across the state for the enhancement of the farming and the food production in the state .
Similarly, the Permanent Secretary , Ministry of Health, DR Francis Adegoke Akanbiemu, who was ably represented by DR. Israel Adeyemi, a Director, said the honours was very deserved as his Principal happened to be a hard working person who had contributed meaningfully to the development of the Health sector in the State. He said his Boss was so passionate about Health service delivery in Ondo State. According to him ,the series of award that had been received by his Principal, was a testimony to his hard work and the results in the good performance of his Boss in the health sector service delivery was feasible. He said he believed that the new award would spur him in doing more. DR. Michael Israel Adeyemi is a Director of Medical Science Laboratory in the Ondo State Ministry of Health representing DR. Francis Akanbiemu.
Mr Abiodun Ajayi, a representative of Dr. Barrister Adu Olumuyiwa, who was one of the award recipients, described him as a great philanthropist who had received almost fifty Awards plus to his credit based on the good works he had been doing to help humanity.
He described him as a man of people, honour and integrity. He advised people of like mind to emulate his good works in the society. He said his Boss was a type of person that doesn’t want people to suffer in the society.
Among the Dignitaries that graced the occasion were too government functionaries and other philanthropists in the society. Among them were Hon. Olabintan, the Executive Secretary of SUBEB, Ondo State, Dr. Abimbola, a Senior lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, Adekunle Ajasin University,Akungba Akoko, Ondo State and the invited Guest Speaker , Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps – NSCDC Commandant,Ondo State , Olatundun Olayinka , Amotekun Commander Akogun Adetunji Adeleye but left before the full commencement of the programme for another assignment and host of others.
