The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Akure and District Society, has elected Hon.Idowu Otetubi as her third Chairman of the association. Hon. Otetubi, was the former commissioner of Natural resources was celebrated today during his Investiture ceremony held at the Odo State Internal Revenue Service -ODIRS in Akure, Ondo State.
According to the Chairman of the planning committee on the CITN Investiture, Mr Stephen Eniafe said he was very greatful for the occasion which came to reality this day as he welcome all the guests officers that graced the occasion. He appreciated all the cream of the personality in the state that came to honoured the 3rd Chairman of the District society of the CITN . He said the Council members of the CITN was very happy for seen the Akure branch of the Association and the district society to have a successful transition of power from one leader to the other.
He said the support received from the state government had enable them to bring the District society activities to an enviable level in the state. He said it’s his hope that a great Achievement would be recorded as the association moved on to the next level of the new administration of the CITN.
The Chairman of the occasion, Prince Isola Akingbade who is also the council member of the CITN, remarks that the tenure of the former chairman Stephen Eniafe of the CITN was fantastic as he did well during his term ,as he recognized every invited guests to the occasion. He said its their normal culture to hold this type of Investiture in celebrating their member. He said tax is the normal key issue in the government. He said without taxation the country could not be effective. He said 10.1 trillion naira was generated last year through taxation and most of the revenue came from the non oil sector. He said no government can perform if there was no money. He said there was need to consolidate all the tax collection from the country. He said they are ready to work perfectly with the committee set up on taxation by the Federal Government.
He aslo, said that government should ensured that they come up with quality Palliatives measure in order to cushion the effect of the hardship of the fuel subsidy removal as quickly as possible in order to relief the people from the hardship.

Princess Oladunni Odu ODSSG

Mrs Princess Oladunni Odu , SSG, Ondo State who represented the Ondo State government, welcomed all the guests present at the occasion. She said the taxation profession was so important as the government are enjoying the divided of the profession. He said tax was the only money that government are using to develop the society. He said things worked well in abroad because people over there are paying taxes. He said the government are enjoying the efforts of the CITN profession as they had help government increased her revenue from 700 million monthly to 3billon every month now, courtesy of CITN in Ondo State. He said Government believed that professionalism must be strived in the state. She said, she had confidence in the leadership of the new chairman of the CITN Hon Otetubi that he would perform well as he believed that he had the integrity to do the job more and that she believed that the new Chairman would perform more than his predecessor.

She advised him to be focused as he faced the challenge in the job. He said he should prepared to face the change that would come on his way and she admonised him that all those changes are only meant to made his work easy.
