The Coalition of Nigerian Youths on Security and Safety Affairs (CONYSSA) in conjunction with the National Security Agencies particularly with Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Council– NSCDC has organised a security summit in the state for the purpose of bringing the insecurity in our country to a bearest minimum. The event which took place the Dome had in attendance all the Security Agencies Commandant and representative in the venue .

According to the stakeholders presentations , they believed that drugs was actually the strong substance that was influencing the criminals to indulge in a criminal activities. The summit which had its theme on Integrating Ondo State Youths in the Fight Against Crime or Extremism , attracted enough comments . The various speakers who spoke on the theme said 85% of the crimes are committed under the influence of the Drugs.

Similarly, the state Commandant of the NDLEA, Mr Mumumi Kayode Raji, spoke on the theme titled Drop the Drug and pick a skill , said drugs are the major influencial that is making people to involve in the crimes and that when you remove the substance from them the criminal would become Jelly and find it difficult to commit crime. Mr Mumumi , said the demand of the drug increased the supply as it was in the Economic theory that says the higher the demand the higher the supply.

He was of the opinion that in most cases it’s demand that create the supply. He opined that the demand side need to be tackled in order to reduce the supply of the substance.. According, to him the command have established a section called drop the demand in their organization for the purpose of reducing the drug intake among the Youths. While sighting the Saudi Arabia and Israel where crime was reduced to zero level said if Nigeria could emulate these countries, in this area, where shops and markets and other Public places were not under lock and key that our society would be better.

He also said the command had designed a strategy of going from one school to another, and the motor park to speak to the Drivers on the negative effect of taken drugs as this substance normally destroy their systems. He said they had a programme where they normally train the youth in partnership with the Nigeria Directorate of Employment -NDE and other NGO who normally assist in the training of the Youths on one particular skill rather than taken into Drug .

Barrister Adu Olumuyiwa, a Philanthropist who was the Chairman of the occasion, said the State Security Agencies in the state should ensure that they involved the Youths in the fighting the insecurity in the country. He said the Police and others agencies are not enough to fight the insecurity in the country because there is frustration, hopelessness and poverty among the Youths. He opined that unless we begin are fresh on a clean slate , it’s would be difficult for us to tackle insecurity.

He said our system is our problems as a lot of people are suffering couple with the poor remuneration of the civil servants are one of the reasons why people are taking into Drug . He also said the man power of the Security Agencies are not enough to police the over two hundred citizens in the country.

He also condemned the poor remuneration of the security personnel which he believed that their take home salary is not enough to take them home and this are some of the reasons why some of them are aiding the youths to indulge in crime

He said we needs to explore our Natural resources for the development of our country. He believed that we need to be thinking of leaving a legacy for our youths in the country than to be thinking about the huge amount of the money in our Bank Account. He explained the state government could generate more revenue from the waste .

According to him, if a Drums is placed in front of each Houses where everyone would be paying little money for their waste and this to him would generate more employment while the same waste could be recycled and used as fertilizer to boost our agricultural products.
