Women: Ask For Human Rights Not Women Rights- FUTA VC Prof Adenike

The Vice Chancelor of Federal University of Technology,Akure, Ondo State Prof Adenike Oladiji has charged the women in the society to stop asking for women rights but rather asked for human rights . Disclosing this today at the public lecture titled : Promoting Women’s Right for quality Education and Health. As organised by the Precision Online Newspaper which was held today at Pharmacists House, Alagbaka Akure.The Prof Said the fundamental human rights which includes right to private life, right to Education and right to life ,right to good health and so on should be among things they should be advocated for from the government.
According to her , parents should endeavour to educate their Gil’s Child in order for them to become a very important person in the society and also contribute their own quota to the development of the economy of the Nation as well as develop their potential.
Prof Adenike who controlled over twenty five thousand students and two thousand five hundred staff under her leadership, said it’s important for the society to reduced if not stopped totally some of the stereotypes working against women from becoming an educated people like their Male counterpart in the society. According to her, women constituted about 50% population of the world and if they were not educated their is no way they could maximized their potential to growth.
In another development, Prof. Adenike Oladiji advocated for the training of more women in most of the scientific courses for the purpose of attending to the issues that related to the women in the society. She said there nothing stopped women from holding more key position and also become an organisation’s leader in the community rather than becoming only personal Secretary or Secretary in some of the organization most of the time.
She highlighted some of the factors that limiting women from educated to be traditional beliefs and customary practices like cooking for the family and taking care of their sick family members and so on.
The Muslim Clergy -Alhaji Yayi Akorede -Imam of Akure also advised women not to be worried as men could not do without them. He admonished parents to always educated their Girls Child because of the importance roles they used to play in the family and the society. He assured them not to dismare as most of the property owned by their husband always belong to the women at the end of the day because Allah had commanded them to care for the women and their needs.
Also, the Prof Said there was no policy that would assist them when things go wrong . She said there was no policy on ground that would allow a teenager Girl who get pregnant while still schooling to go back to school and continue her education. And if she could not go back to the school such a Girl become a burden to the community and nation entirely if she was not taken care of..
Speaking on Job discrimination about women, Prof Adenike said many of the women are still turned down in some places of work. According to her, in the history of some organization they don’t even have women as chief Executive and leaders of the organization in some places to be a position of decision making even in our country as the drop out rate of Girls child in school is still high. She opined that government should make a policy to tackle all these problems as they are still in existence in our society.
She also talked about inclusiveness of the Girls child in most of the decision making in the family and the society at large. She gave example that she have never had about such thing like Oladiji and Daughter but Oladiji and Son are most of the things people are using in this part of world to named their company while excluding their Girls child as most emphasis are being placed on male child.
She talked about some of the problems hindering women from getting education to be cultural imbalance against women, economic factors and host of others. She advised women to Patronised their fellow women that are into business . The programme also featured panel discussion on the subject matter and award presentation to the invited Guest Speaker .
The organizer of the event Mr Akeem Adebumiti thanked the lead speaker, the Panellist and others eminent personalities that graced the occasion as well as the various media organisation that graced the occasion.
