As Schools commenced third term of 2023/2024 academic session, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board, ODSUBEB, has enjoined teachers to double up their efforts at ensuring students and pupils perform excellently well in their forthcoming terminal and other examinations.
The Executive Chairman Ondo SUBEB, Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan gave the charge at the end of the statutory monitoring of schools Resumption at the commencement of a new term.
Olabimtan who was represented by the Full Time Member FTM -1, of the Board, Princess Funmilayo Ademulegun-Brown who led the team comprises the Permanent Secretary of the Board Chief Dele Akinnagbe, Director of Quality Assurance Olusojj Okedusi and other Staff on tbe exercise in Akure South Local Government commended teachers for their commitment to teaching.
The former Speaker Ondo State House of Assembly, who was very impressed with the attitude of Teachers and their Head Teacher at most of the schools visited for reporting for duties timely enjoined them to maintain the ethics.
According to him, the rewards for diligent workers especially for teachers is no more in Heavens as it used to be, but now here with us. Everyone gets the rewards of what he or she did here on earth. As you take care of other people’s children so also God will make provision for other people to care for your children where ever they go
Speaking in the same vein, the Permanent Secretary, Akinnagbe, who took time to examined the books of records of teachers of schools visited, such as Time Books and Lesson Notes warned that Head Teachers in each school would be held accountable for every infraction committed by teachers under them.
He admonished the teachers to work on pupils enrollment drive especially at the beginning of the first and second terms and adhere to teaching practice rules to resume in their various schools at least a week before the resumption date
According to Chief Akinnagbe, as you all know the holidays are not for teachers but for the Pupils to cool their brains to make them prepared adequately for the next term academic work. Teachers along with their Head Teachers are expected to resume in school, clean up the place especially making the environment inviting and conducive for teaching and learning.
Director of Quality Assurance, Olusoji Okedusi encouraged teachers and learners to approach this period with a renewed sense of dedication and commitment to study. Education is a powerful tool that can transform lives and communities, but it requires effort and persistence.
According to him, the role of teachers is crucial in shaping the minds of our future leaders, adding that dedication to teaching and mentoring will inspire and motivate students to excel.
Consequently, he enjoined them to prepare their lessons diligently, engage with your students, and create a supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity and growth.
To the learners, this is an opportunity to set new goals and work towards achieving them. Be disciplined in their studies, attend classes regularly, and actively participate in learning activities.
